We’re almost halfway through our New Zealand adventure and we’re camping on the Coromandel peninsula tonight. It’s been several days since I’ve had an internet connection and today we’ve gotten the horrible news about the storm hitting the East Coast. I hope everyone out there is all right. I’m putting together some posts right now of some Kiwi authors that I’m excited about, but right now I thought this would be apropos.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York published a beautiful alphabet book several years ago and we found it at our library. I’ve said before, alphabet books tend to be fairly straightforward, there’s rarely much variation, but the artwork is always the star. Naturally, that is the case with Museum ABC. A is, of course, for apple. Isn’t it always? But the celebrated apples are works by Lichtenstein and Cezanne. It’s a nice introduction to some famous paintings.
