Follow the Line Through the House, by Laura Ljungkvist

Follow the Line Through the House, by Laura Ljungkvist- Amelie's BookshelfLaura Ljungvist’s unique Follow the Line series knocks me out. I included her book Follow the Line to School in my Back-to-School book list, and I wanted to give a proper profile to Follow the Line Through the House. The core of the book is one continuous line that spans the pages, creating the objects in rooms throughout the house: the bedroom, closet, bathroom, playroom, etc.

It’s a wonderfully interactive book, with open cupboards and closets and the all the fascinating busyness inside- questions about personal preferences, lost items on the page, counting the bow ties, that sort of thing.

My son (read *I*) can’t help but follow the ubiquitous line with his (*my*) finger as it curves and juts unbroken across the page, forming intricate patterns. This is exactly the kind of creative design I wanted to highlight with this blog.

What are your favorite unorthodox picture books?
