Ish, by Peter H. Reynolds

Do you remember Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot? I just love the next one he wrote, Ish. It’s a poignant little book about artistic expression and confidence, full of simple but charming watercolor illustrations.  The little boy’s drawing of a vase may not look perfectly like the vase, but as his sister points out, it does look vase-ish, and that makes all the difference.

My son tends to get discouraged easily, and this book has inspired some wonderful conversations about personal acceptance.

Are your kids creative?

…Or are they creative-ish?

  1. I absolutely love THE DOT, and so do my kids (four-year-old twins and a 17-month old) (enough to write about it on my blog, too, in light of a ridiculous negative review I had seen). We haven’t read ISH yet, but we plan on getting it.
